Sales Tax Options
Auctria's Sales Tax feature supports the following:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Multiple tax rates | Track up to three separate sales taxes per category. |
| Exclusive or Inclusive mode | Add sales tax on top of bid amounts (Exclusive), or calculate it as part of the overall bid amount (Inclusive). See Sales Tax Mode for more information. |
| Taxable Value cap | Limit the sales tax calculation to the item's value rather than the total bid amount. See Taxable Value for more information. |
| Value-based tax | Apply sales tax to the item's value even if the participant bids more — any amount above the taxable value is treated as a donation and is exempt from sales tax. |
| Multiple categories | Assign different items to different sales tax categories to handle varying tax rates across your items. |
| Tax-exempt participants | Mark individual participants as tax-exempt. |
Managing Sales Tax Categories
Add a Sales Tax Category
Click Add Sales Tax Category to open the page where you can define your tax rates. See Sales Tax Categories for more information.
Recalculate Sales Tax
Sales tax is applied to an item when a bid is recorded. If you update your Sales Tax Category settings after bids have been placed, use the Recalculate Sales Tax action to update the tax values on existing items.
Recalculate After Any Changes
If you change your Sales Tax Category settings, you must run Recalculate Sales Tax before the updated values will be applied to items that already have bids recorded against them.
After clicking Recalculate Sales Tax, a progress window will appear and close automatically when the process is complete.
