Open/Close Bidding
The Open/Close Bidding page lets you quickly open or close bidding on selected items.
From the main Event Dashboard, click Items in the left sidebar, then click Open/Close Bidding on the left side of the Items dashboard.

Re-opening Closed Items
When re-opening bidding on closed items, set a new Online Bidding end time before opening bidding — either as a new event default or as an override on the specific items. If the end time is not updated to a future date, items will close again immediately after being opened.
Items With Partial Sales
Items with a quantity greater than 1 and sales of less than the total quantity cannot be re-opened using these functions.
A few things to be aware of when working with bidding:
- For online bidding and Kiosk Mode, all bids are recorded — not just the winning bid. An item remains open until the Online Bidding end time for either the auction or the item has passed.
- Paper Bidding items with online pre-bidding enabled will not close automatically — they require manual closing by default. If no further bids were recorded during the event, you must close the item manually.
- Live Bidding items also use manual closing by default.
- Paper and Live items can be closed individually from their Item Details page, or in bulk from this page if they are included in the selected items.
- When recording a bid from the Bidding Dashboard page, you can mark it as the final bid by checking the Final Bid checkbox.
No Effect on For Sale or Donation Items
Opening or closing bidding has no effect on For Sale Items or Donation Items.
Choosing Items to Open or Close
Use the Choose Items section to select which items to apply the action to. A range of filters and search options are available to help you find and refine your selection.

Review Items Before Re-opening
Before re-opening items, it's worth reviewing and adjusting them first. The selection filters work much more effectively when you know the current state of the items you want to re-open.
